Fighting SPAM
This section of our website
is dedicated to helping people fight SPAM.

On these 6 pages you will find tips, trick, tools and resources to help you, us and
the rest of the internet community to fight SPAM.
Do You Hate SPAM and Junkmail, Scams and trash in your Email ?

We consider people who send SPAM to be the cockroaches of the internet and think the world needs a good exterminator. These cockroaches use your email address and personal information as food. And just like the filthy insects, they hide most of the time, come out when your not looking and invade your personal space. One of the ONLY ways to get rid of cockroaches is to make it harder for them to find food.

If you are receiving SPAM at your current email address, it is not going to stop anytime soon and it will most likely get worse. So even if you create a brand new hosting account at GetMySiteOnline.com, it will not make a significant difference unless you start fresh with a new email address too.

Spammer Tools : How Do They Get Your Info ?
One of the tools spammers use is called a Spider. Spiders are automated programs that go "crawling" from web page to web page following links. These spiders look for email addresses and other information that is typically stored as plain text in your WebPages. When they find an email address they read (harvest) it from the WebPages and store it in their database only to be used as food later.

Another tool that spammers use is an email extractor. An extractor will take a large chunk of text like a document or forwarded email and read through the text. Just like in the spider, when it finds some juicy information it is looking for like an email address, it will store that email address in a database.

Spammer Tactics
One tactic is called a SPOOF. A Spoof is an email sent to you that looks like a legitimate email from a company that you might normally deal with. Many spoofs will even contain links to the REAL companies website but they are all designed to get you to give up your email address and other personal information like: usernames, passwords, account numbers and social security numbers. Spoofs are a serious problem.

Another spammer tactic is the famous "REMOVE LIST." How this works is the spammer sends out email to thousands of email addresses. Some may be real and some may be randomly generated. In the email you receive, someplace it tells you "to remove your address from our list, enter it here." The truth is, a spammers remove list is a LIE. They are designed to get your real email address and then send you more junk. Spammers have no intention to remove you. You entering your information into a spammers remove list is just a guarantee to get more junkmail.

If this has happened to you please review the pages on Filtering SPAM and Reporting SPAM.
